Reason #866

Because God meets our disgrace with His grace. - Bobby Dagnel

It's more than mud on your face. It's the experiences you've been through. It's the shame and regret from the choices we've made. It's being rejected, excluded. It's being abandoned and feeling unwanted. It's that feeling of being the talk of the town. Of having eyes on your back. Your ears are burning because there is so much to be said, or so you think. It's the shame that comes with the label you've been assigned by society. Divorced, fired, poor, loser, alcoholic, addict, adulterer, murderer, thief, ugly, deformed, lazy, and good for nothing. That's how we feel. That's how society makes us feel. That's what we've been told before, been made to believe, and for some reason we shamefully shake our head in agreement.

So how do we approach such a Holy God? How do we expect someone who knows us inside and out, someone who is so spotless and perfect, to accept us when the people who are just like us don't even accept us? Is that possible? Are we beyond fixing, beyond repair? Are we worth it in His eyes? How does that even add up?

Grace. In all of our disgrace, we are met with God's grace. That's His whole purpose in calling us to Himself. He extends grace every time. He wipes the mud off your face. His grace cleanses the slate so that you can start over. So that you don't have to be those things the world might label you. Grace gives you a new name. You're not divorced, you are redeemed. You aren't fired, you've been repurposed. You're not a loser, you're victorious. You aren't an alcoholic, you're restored. You're not an addict, you're free. You're not an adulterer or murderer, you're forgiven. You're no thief, you're an heir. You aren't ugly, you're made in His perfect image. You're not deformed, you are treasured. You're not lazy, you're full of worth. And you're not good for nothing, you're fearfully and wonderfully made.

Grace gives you a new identity, and that's how God sees you. You're not a disgrace, you're His beloved child. So taken your brokenness to the only who permanently repairs. To the one who brings beauty from ashes. Hand over your scarlet rags for a white-washed robe. God meets you with His grace. Child of God, you have nothing to be ashamed about. Thank Him for grace that abounds, for the grace that is greater than all of your sins. For it is by grace that you have been saved. You've been made new, so live a life filled with grace and celebrate what God has done for you.

#866 - Because our disgrace is met with God's grace.

"God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God." - Ephesians 2:8
